WAVES Enlistment Information
WAVE Officer Candidates
Applicants for appointment as commissioned officers in the Women's Reserve must be citizens of the United States between the ages of twenty and fifty years. They must possess a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or must have completed successfully 2 years of college and have at least least two years of business or professional experiences. Married men may apply if they are not wives of men in the armed services and if they have no dependents under eighteen years. Applicants must be of good moral character and must be able to pass an aptitude test and a physical examination prescribed by the Bureau of Medicine and Surgerye.
The duties which commissioned officers in the Women's Reserve will be qualified to fill are administrative duties in general, particularly duties in communications, which will release officers of the regular Navy and the Naval Reserve for service at bases beyond the continental limits of the United States and at sea in ships of the fleet.
WAVE Enlisted Candidates
Applicants of Enlistment must have general and physical qualifications described above except that the age bracket is from twenty to thirty-six years. Their educational qualifications must included a certificate of graduation from high school or business school or evidence of completion of courses at business school and subsequent business experience sufficient to be considered the equivalent of a high-school education.
